We do this by consulting with our customers helping them understand and measure their carbon emission, then set Net Zero targets. By providing our smart carbon reduction dashboard we are able to monitor and provide insights to achieve Net Zero. Our AI-driven energy trading and optimisation platform achieves huge cost savings for customers by maximising the use of local generation, utilising battery storage and demand flexibility. This intelligence is powered at the edge by the SmartQube Hub, our dedicated hardware gateway that enables real-time analytics and precise control of distributed assets.

As a Flex Purchasing Sales Consultant, your primary responsibility will be to monitor and action the trading operations of gas and power markets for our client baskets. You will be responsible for monitoring market trends, developing trading strategies, executing trades, and providing insightful market reports to support decision-making processes.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review and implement trading strategies with clients to optimise energy procurement, minimise market risks, and achieve the best possible pricing outcomes for our clients within their chosen risk profile.
  • Work with the sales team to suggest trading strategies to prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with clients and Q Energy management team to establish risk management policies.
  • Execute trades in gas and power markets, considering market conditions, client requirements, and risk management guidelines.
  • Monitor trade execution to ensure timely and accurate settlements, resolve any trade-related issues, and maintain trade records on the Q Energy platform.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with energy suppliers trading desks.
  • Stay updated with supplier offerings, negotiate favourable trading terms on flex contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Account Management teams to understand client energy requirements and develop tailored energy procurement strategies.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to clients regarding market dynamics, pricing trends, and risk management strategies.Conduct daily research and analysis of gas and power markets, including supply and demand fundamentals, pricing trends, regulatory developments, and geopolitical factors.
  • Prepare accurate and concise daily market reports, summarising key market movements, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Be proactive in suggestions and development of Q Energy software to enhance the efficiency of the role.

Person Specification

We are seeking someone who has a passion for working within the trading and the emerging battery optimisation sector, within the energy market

Essential Knowledge Requirements

  • Energy Consultancy working environment
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in the UK energy market
  • Proficient in data analysis, using tools such as Excel, SQL, or Python, to analyse market data and generate reports. Desirable- Advanced excel skills – Power BI
  • Strong understanding of gas and power markets, including supply and demand dynamics, market participants, and trading mechanisms
  • Detailed knowledge of energy supplier product offerings

Essential Education & Qualification Requirements

  • 4+ years experience
